Matterform Media (www.matterform.com) today unveiled a new version of the company’s Yank File Sharing Service. The service works with Yank, Matterform’s all-purpose uninstaller program, to make removing software from a Macintosh as easy as installing it.
In January 2006, Matterform released Yank, a Mac-only program that can monitor software installations in real-time and create custom uninstaller scripts, called Yank files. The Yank File Sharing Services makes it easy for Yank users to share Yank files. By downloading Yank files from the Yank File Sharing Service, users can safely uninstall software that they installed before installing Yank.
The new Yank File Sharing Service offers several improvements, including a new RSS feed that users can subscribe to. The new service also includes many new Yank files, submitted by Yank users, quadrupling the number of Yank files available for download. Yank users can submit Yank files they create to yankfiles@matterform.com.
Yank is available at www.matterform.com/yank. There is a special introductory price of $19.95 and a free demo is also available. Every Yank license includes free access to the Yank File Sharing Service. The Yank File Sharing Service can be accessed from within Yank and on the Web at mac.uninstallers.net.
For full Yank support, Matterform recommends OS X 10.4 Tiger. Certain features also work with OS X 10.2 and later. Yank is built with REALbasic (www.realsoftware.com).
Matterform Media also publishes Sonar (www.matterform.com/sonar), a file monitor whose core technology is used in Yank. Sonar provides searchable, real-time file change logs that can be used to monitor and troubleshoot file system problems on a Mac.
