Matterform Media (www.matterform.com) today announced the immediate availability of Yank version 1.0 for Mac OS X. Yank uses Matterform’s new file-listening technology, known as Sonar, to allow users to completely and safely uninstall almost any program from their Macintosh.

Most Mac programs do not ship with uninstaller programs and Mac users usually remove software simply by dragging the program file into the trash. However, this does not remove the numerous support files that most programs sprinkle liberally through the user’s file system. These unneeded files accumulate on the hard drive, consuming disk space and possibly degrading system security and performance.

Yank gives users the power to uninstall almost any software, along with all its support files, with a simple click. The result is a leaner, faster, safer Macintosh.

Other uninstaller products for the Mac use unreliable search technologies to locate and remove software. Such programs are unable to detect spy-ware and ad-ware files that unscrupulous programmers deliberately conceal. Yank uses Matterform’s new Sonar technology to locate every installed file. Yank is the only product that can remove any software from a Macintosh computer, no matter how it was originally installed.

Matterform has also announced a Yank file sharing service that allows Yank users to share uninstaller files with one another. This enables users to uninstall software they installed before installing Yank.
